Affectionately called corn toss or bean toss, this lawn game is extensively played during tailgating parties. You better get your team name ready if you want to participate in the upcoming tournament though. PartyJoys brings you a list of the trending cornhole team names.
Corn toss, also popularly known as bean bag, bean toss, soft horseshoes, or Indiana horseshoes, is said to have originated in Germany in the 14th century. It is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing pouches of corn at a board with the aim of getting the pouches into the socket.
The game is similar to that of horseshoes or ring toss, except that wooden platforms and corn bags are used instead of the conventional horseshoes or rings and metal stakes. Each player takes turn pitching his/her bags at the cornhole platform. The player or team that reaches a score of 21 points the fastest is declared the winner.
Just about anyone can play the game, which explains why it is such a popular game at tailgating events. Like in all tournament games, the champion is named at the end of a cornhole tournament. Besides, it is a great game that can be played during your family outings or even cookouts.

Cornhole tournaments are played with two sets of bags and two platforms. The game is played by aiming a set of four corn bags at an angled table or platform. A six-inch hole is constructed into the platform at the elevated end. Each of the platforms are placed 33 ft apart in a regular court, with enough space for the pitcher’s box besides the team’s platform. Players have to aim their bags into the opposite cornhole platform. Players stepping over the foul line while pitching are disqualified.
The game of cornhole has its set of rules that have to be adhered to like every other game. The player has to pitch his bags from either the left or right pitcher’s box. However, players are required to pitch their set of corn bags from the same pitcher’s box to complete one inning. Starting from the time the pitcher enters the field, he/she gets only 20 seconds to deliver his/her corn bag.
In order to win an inning, the bags must be tossed into the hole or at least land on the board. The perfect goal receives 3 points, while those that land on the board are awarded a single point each. Any bag that falls off the board during a single innings is disqualified, and hence, is not awarded any points. The first team to score or exceed a perfect 21 is declared the winner.
