A very popular game, and one that seems extremely easy, be assured, it is a task easier said than done. The best part of this game is that you do not need extensive preparation and the rules to play it are fairly simple. The game is also open to variations that you may make. However, for the sake of convenience, let’s take a look at how this game is played, and the arrangements you need to make to play it.
Steps to Play Flip Cup Drinking Game
Line up plastic glasses for each player alongside the table you are going to use. Now, fill each glass with at least one quart of beer. Beer is the preferred drink to play this game. However, you can definitely choose the spirit you prefer.
Make all your participants stand in front of their glasses. Ensure that every participant is there at the table. Use both sides of the table. This means the participants will stand opposite to each other, which is easier for you to determine the teams.
After both teams have lined up, the facilitator or host comes into play. Once the facilitator shouts out ‘Go’, the first player of each team will chug the beer shot.
After the first participants have gulped down the beer, their next move is to place the glass face down or inverted on the table. However, the glass will have to be placed in such a way that almost half of the inverted glass will be hanging off the table’s edge, giving the player space to flip it. Now, the first player has to flip the inverted glass into a standing position (mouth upwards). Once the first player is done with flipping the cup correctly (preferably landing it with mouth upwards), only then will the second player follow suit.
The same pattern continues till both the teams are done. Obviously, the team that correctly flips all its cups first is declared the winner.
Flip cup is an excellent team game that requires very little preparation or planning. It can be played anywhere and at anytime if the essentials are available. However, what one needs to remember is that it has to be played in the right spirit. Avoid drinking beyond what can be handled, and ensure your friends who are driving back home have designated drivers. Drinking games remain fun only as long as they are played with caution, care, and in the right spirit.
